Ungewöhnlich

Ungewöhnlich
Descibtion
As part of a 24-hour project at the vocational baccalaureate school, I explored the theme of “unusual,” focusing on unconventional aspects of living. I initiated a photo shoot, developed a storyline, handled styling, layout, and post-production, and coordinated the printing of a design magazine.
The project challenged familiar notions of home by introducing the unfamiliar into everyday settings – such as eating in the bathtub or sleeping on the kitchen stove. Inspired by Franz Kafka’s The Metamorphosis, I drew on the uncanny atmosphere of his story, using text fragments as placeholder text in the layout. This interplay added a Kafkaesque dimension and highlighted the fragile boundary between the familiar and the unusual.
The title ungewöhnlich*(FR: Inhabituel) is a deliberate play on the German word “wohnen” (to live, to dwell), linking the theme of living with the notion of the unusual.
